Course Details Adobe Photoshop CS6 is a powerful software solution providing support and specialized editing tools for digital photographers and graphic artists. In this course, you'll master techniques to edit and enhance your digital images and add a professional polish to your work. Designed for those with no image-editing experience, this class will take you from novice to accomplished photo editor. This course offers simple, step-by-step instructions for basics like cropping, rotating, and sizing images. You'll also experiment with Photoshop's tools for correcting exposure, adjusting color and color casts, as well as working with Adobe's powerful layer and selection tools. You'll learn exactly what you need to do to add text, retouch, and even clone away unwanted elements from your images. You'll see how to work with raw images and prepare images for print or online use. All along the way, your instructor will guide you with detailed explanations and instructions for using the tools that make this software so popular and unique in the world of digital image editing. The lessons are yours to keep so you'll have all the information you need to work on your own images. As the high-end program in Adobe's collection of photo-editing software, Photoshop gives users all the tools they need to create outstanding digital images. Because this course is specifically targeted at photographers, you'll come away with a collection of useful techniques and quickly start seeing amazing results in your images! How It Works This course is fully online, you require internet access and an email account. The course duration is 6 weeks, followed by a 2-week period to complete the final exam (online, open book). Lessons are released on Wednesdays and Fridays of each week, for a total of 12. You are not required to be online at any specific time. In addition to the specific lesson content, there is a discussion board with each lesson and often there is an optional assignment to apply the learning. Following each lesson, there is a short multiple choice quiz. Your score on these quizzes does not count towards the final mark but completing these helps solidify your learning as well as prepare you for the final exam. The final exam is an open-book, multiple choice exam and you need to achieve a minimum of 65% on the final exam to pass the course. There is only one opportunity to pass the exam. A certificate of completion from Ed2Go is available for printing immediately upon successful completion of the course and a certificate from the University of Waterloo will be emailed typically 1-2 weeks later. Many of the Ed2Go courses are eligible towards the various online certificates offered by WatSPEED. Requirements • Internet access • Email • One of the following browsers: o Mozilla Firefox o Microsoft Internet Explorer (9.0 or above) o Google Chrome o Safari • Adobe PDF plug-in (a free download obtained at Adobe.com .) This course is written with Windows software, but Macintosh users will find the software is quite similar and are welcome in this course. Mac users will need to be comfortable with the normal Windows/Mac conversion for keyboard differences which your instructor will provide in class. All coursework and examples are based on Windows using Photoshop CS6 software. Students should feel comfortable acquiring digital images, either with a digital camera, using images scanned onto CDs, or scanning film prints. Basic computer skills, such as using a mouse, creating and accessing folders, and downloading and saving files will be briefly reviewed in this course, but should be familiar to students. In addition to Internet access for classroom participation, students will need Adobe's Photoshop CS6 installed and functioning to take full advantage of the course.
